SE DECRETA RECESO ADMINISTRATIVO HASTA EL MARTES 19 DE AGOSTO, DEBIDO A FALTA DE ELECTRICIDAD POR INCLEMENCIAS DEL TIEMPO (HURACÁN ERIN)\n\nLos trabajos de la planta central de enfriamiento del Recinto de Río Piedras han culminado. No obstante, debido a las inclemencias del tiempo provocadas por el paso del Huracán Erin, el Recinto se encuentra sin servicio de electricidad desde el sábado de 16 de agosto de 2025 a las 8:00 p.m.\n\nComo es de conocimiento general, miles de abonados en todo Puerto Rico también se encuentran sin servicio eléctrico en este momento, incluyendo nuestro Recinto de Río Piedras. Nos mantenemos en comunicación constante con LUMA Energy para lograr el restablecimiento del servicio eléctrico lo antes posible.\n\nSe decreta receso administrativo hasta el martes 19 de agosto y se enmienda el calendario de inicio de clases para el miércoles. Por tanto, las labores administrativas y académicas del Recinto se reanudarán con normalidad a partir del miércoles, 20 de agosto de 2025, siempre y cuando los sistemas se hayan restablecido.\n\nEl sistema de información estudiantil (SIE) sigue abierto para matrícula y el Portal MiUPI para pagos. Los y las estudiantes tendrán disponible hasta el jueves 21 de agosto para hacer cambios a su matrícula, dado que el viernes 22 se correrán los procesos de cancelación. El viernes no se podrá hacer matrícula, sólo pagos.\n\nSe instruye a los(as) decanos(as) y supervisores(as) a mantener comunicación activa con el personal no docente, a fin de asegurar una reincorporación ordenada y efectiva.\n\nPor la naturaleza de las funciones que realizan la División de Seguridad y Manejo de Riesgos, la Oficina para la Conservación de las Instalaciones Universitarias, la Oficina del Registrador, la Oficina de Finanzas, la Oficina de Recursos Humanos, la Oficina de Protección Ambiental y Seguridad Ocupacional (OPASO) y la División de Tecnologías Académicas y Administrativas, es necesario que los directores(as) de estas unidades activen el Plan de Continuidad de Operaciones de manera que se garantice el ofrecimiento de sus servicios durante este período.\n\nPermanecemos atentos a la evolución de las condiciones del tiempo y del servicio eléctrico en el Recinto.
