The incident occurred at Cochrane Hall (770 Washington Street) in the early hours of Jan. 24, 2026. The survivor and offender met each other earlier in the night. The offender is a Virginia Tech student.\n\nAs reported, this incident meets the elements of Rape as defined in Virginia Code 18.2-61, and Object sexual penetration as defined in Virginia Code 18.2-67.2. This incident is not related to the crime alert issued on 1/24/26 around 8:20 a.m.\n\nInformation disclosed here is limited to protect the identity, privacy, and rights of the survivor.",
