On September 14, 2023, Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee locked down its campus after a student reported a man with what appeared to be a gun in his waistband near Jennie Hall. A text alert went out at 12:17 PM CDT and an all-clear followed at about 1:40 PM CDT.
